    About this Act

Glasgow based rocking Ceilidh band the Big Shoogle are a three or four piece act with near twenty years of playing in front of small, large and mahoosive crowds al over the planet. They bill themselves as the World’s Rockiest Ceilidh Band and with good reason, they have a unique approach to ceilidh music blending cajun and rock influences while still remaining solidly rooted in the Scottish tradition.

They have played in top venues worldwide for every kind of audience imaginable in Paris, Brussels, London, Copenhagen, Moscow, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Florence, Pisa for Supermodels and Hollywood A-listers. With a state-of-the-art sound system, adaptable to suit small, intimate weddings and functions to large events in the biggest ballrooms, along with the very latest LED and laser stage lighting puts the icing on the cake ensuring that your event is a memorable one.

All the favourite ceilidh dances are catered for as well as Scottish Country Dances if requested. Guests are talked through the steps of all ceilidh dances so that everyone can participate and nobody is left out.

The core is a 3-piece band with accordion (& vocals), guitar & drums (& vocals) but they can provide a 4-piece band with a fiddler. If Carlsberg made Ceilidh Bands, they probably wouldn't be half as exciting as The Big Shoogle!!!

    Testimonials

“Davie, I don’t know where to start by thanking you boys for fri night. There was over 100 peeps there and I would say nearly everyone has commented on how brilliant you were and how you made the night. Big Andy(the big fat loud boy) thinks you’re even better now compared to the wedding and we thought you were awesome then.. Everybody had a great time which is mainly down to you guys. We’ve not stopped talking about it since. Hopefully our paths will meet to let us get Shoogled once more. Pass our regards to the boys. Hope you get an awesome venue for Hogmanay, you certainly deserve it. Thanks a million Paula”

Paula MacFarlane – Bowfield Country House Hotel.

“Hey guys,  Thank you for playing at our wedding on Sunday in The Drumossie.  It was a brilliant performance and made the evening really memorable for everyone.  Still not sure how you got Another Brick in the Wall into a ceilidh dance but it worked and it was impressive! Couldn’t have been better. Thanks so much, Graham and Louise”

Mr. & Mrs. Leadbitter, New Drumossie Hotel, Inverness

“Thanks for an awesome evening of entertainment at our wedding. Everyone loved it and look forward to hearing you in the future. Benno and Laura”

Mr & Mrs Rawlinson, Myres Castle, Auchtermuhty

“Gentlemen... what a fantastic band. We see bands here every week but you guys were miles better than any we've ever seen. I am not working today so have spoken with the manager on duty to leave a comment for you. Perhaps then some of our other clients will choose you for their functions at Achnagairn House. Hope you made it safely back down the road last night. Hope to see you all soon again.”

Heather Brockie, Banqueting, Achnagairn House, Inverness

"A great performance guys! Thank you. Feedback from the guests was very complimentary."

John Thorpe, Cameron House, Loch Lomond, April 2014

"Just a quick note to say thank you very much for playing at our wedding last month. We absolutely loved the music and the dancing, in particular the Cumberland Square 8, as did all our guests! It was great to you as part of the day and we will definitely recommend you wholeheartedly to others.

We look forward to seeing the Big Shoogle at an event sometime soon!!! All the best."

James Spencer, Wedding, Ross Priory, Gartocharn, March 2014

"A fantastic, high-energy set from The Big Shoogle last night at The Clutha Vaults benefit. Punk Ceilidh on acid! Genius. Sheer genius. Many thanks guys!"

Jason Miles-Campbell, member of audience, The Classic Grand Clutha benefit Feb 2014

"You guys are amazing! I couldn't believe it when during the Dashing White Sergeant that you went straight into a Pink Floyd tune!! It was inspired! I'll be recommending you guys for our society's reunion event next year."

Iain Smedley, (guest at) University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine Alumni Ball, Bute Hall, November 2013

"Thanks guys, you were absolutely brilliant last night, everyone was commenting on how good you were. Cheers guys, John and Gillian."

John and Gillian Graham, Strathaven Hotel, October 2013

"Just wanted to say a belated thank you for the fantastic job the band did for our wedding on 20th July at Enterkine. Everyone thought you were great and really enjoyed the dancing outside and the mix of music - we were all exhausted by the end! We really appreciate you changing your plans at the last minute and setting up outside. It certainly made it a day to remember. Many thanks from everyone!"

Riona and Pollycarp, Enterkine House Hotel, Ayrshire, July 2013
