The team at Freak Music have been working with bands, DJs and labels from in and outside the UK for well over a decade now. We take great pride in providing only the very best original live bands, exciting event entertainment, top notch singers, musicians & live cover bands you can hire anywhere in the UK. What makes us tick... finding the right entertainment for the each event that comes our way, big or small (and that goes for size and budget).
We just love helping people organise a good old knees up...
The girl at the coal face, she's the first point of contact for clients looking to book or advise on the acts and is slowly developing a near perfect memory when asked to recommend bands. Interestingly, she once toured the US with her sisters as a Celtic dance troupe but has left that side of showbiz behind.
Guilty Pleasure : "Fleetwood Mac - but don't tell anybody!"
Favourite Shower Sing-along : "It's got to be 'You're So Vain' by Carly Simon."
The all seeing eye of the team and the man who holds the purse strings but, appropriately for Edinburgh he leads a Jekyll & Hyde existence and his weekends are generally spent spinning virtual decks in many of Edinburgh's finest night spots.
What gets you going : "Anything with a backbeat and I'm sold..."
Musical regrets : "Wearing my jeans backwards in the summer of Kris-Kross - 'Jump, jump, The Mac Dad will make you jump, jump..."
A well know face around town on the Edinburgh club scene in his early days, fatherhood has slowed his butterfly-like social life down a tad but he can still be found in the odd George Street basement bar cutting a decent rug on occasion. The "ideas" man in the Freak team with a high sense of the aesthetic.
Who's your favourite artist : "It has to be James Brown every time baby!"
Most memorable musical interlude : "Crowd-surfing at a Erasure gig wearing nothing but a silver mankini - oh the thrill"
The elder statesmen and music guru in the team, he has seen more live bands than the rest of the team put together, although to be fair he did have an earlier start than the rest of them. In charge of band profile maintenance, so basically a glorified spellchecker.
Musical Hero : Tom Waits, closely followed by Frank Zappa, both of whom he has seen live (we told you he was old)
First Music-based Memory : "Being introduced to Bowie's Ziggy Stardust by a babysitter in the early 70s. Thankfully the babysitter was not a children's TV presenter so no worries there."
The managed bands specialist and go-to girl, Nic looks after most of the exclusive acts on the books and as such spends a lot of time "herding cats" as she puts it. Also a very talented clarinettist herself.
True Love : "Barry Manilow does it for me... 'at the Copa... Copacabanna'"
Best Floor-filler : "'Stuck in the middle with you' by Stealers Wheel... Who can keep still to that one!"
As an ex-hippy it's not surprising to find a fair quantity of old folk tunes peppered through Ian's playlists but that masks an eclectic ear for quality with a toe seemingly dipped into every murky genre from 1920's Cajon to French Pop Electronica.
Musical Crush : "Kate Bush in Babooshka... you can't beat that blurred 70's space age allure"
Most Embarrassing Purchase : "I can't believe I'm admitting to this but my first album was a vinyl copy of 'The Twelve Commandments of Dance' by The London Boys in 1989..."
