Background music at weddings always goes down well, whether for the period before the ceremony or for the drinks and canapés section. We’re finding more and more clients are booking jazz acts for this part of their day, rather than the a string quartet or a classical guitarist (which remain popular) we’re finding a lot of clients are hiring jazz acts. Here’s a few recent additions to the Freak Music cause.
The Honeymoon Trio (above) is made up of very experienced musicians and entertainers able to talk to an audience as well as charm them with nostalgic songs, vocal harmonies and gentle jazz arrangements. Usually dressed in period clothes for the pre war era and much in demand to evoke the memories of senior citizens, or fire with nostalgia the growing number of enthusiasts for all things vintage. The band is very well received at vintage dance festivals having played Twinwood and others the last couple of years, and for smaller family celebrations. Willing to travel in the south of the UK for bigger events but happy to play closer to home in south Gloucestershire for smaller functions.
Tempo de Groove (right) are a Jazz Trio consisting of saxophone or guitar, keyboards and drums. The Saxophonist will swap to his electric guitar depending on which piece of music is to be played. The trio play early Jazz from the 1920’s up to later styles incorporating the music of for example, Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, Oscar Hammerstein, Johnnny Mercer, Horace Silver, Jerome Kern, Rodgers & Hart, Thelonius Monk, Stan Getz, Herbie Hancock and Antonio Jobim.
