About

ShoeString are a high energy ceilidh and covers band with an excellent pedigree. They have been the ceilidh band at Cameron House Hotel Loch Lomond the last two Hogmanays 2007 and 2008 and for boxing day 2008 at Cameron House. Recent gigs include Great Hall Stirling Castle, Edinburgh Castle, Melville, Airth, Boturich, Glenskirlie, and Plean castles, World indoor ceilidh and Folk festival 2008, City Council organised St Andrews day celebrations Union St gardens Aberdeen [a 5 hour ceilidh] and a host of wedding venues.

Their caller is one of the best in the business. Gillian Whitelaw, ex three times Scottish senior Highland Dancing champion and choreographer and principal of the world renowned Ballochleam Highland Dancers. Gillian has ceilidh called at events all over Europe, USA and in the Far East, and prior to doing Cameron House Hotel with us Hogmanay 2008, performed for several Hogmanays running in Princes St Edinburgh. Gillian is also one of the most succesful teachers of Highland, and Scottish dancing, with many champions of her own British and Scottish. Your guests can be in no safer hands than with Gillian calling, and with the confidence she instils in experienced and brand new ceilidh dancers to try out sets and reels they have never heard of before. A few years ago Gillian had the Ballochleam dancers attending the star studded 57th birthday party of rock star Sting at his mansion in Wiltshire, to dance and demonstrate the ceilidh dances, and when you tire of ceilidh, they change instruments and perform covers, and you would scarcely believe the same band was on stage.

Where are they based?

This band are based in Falkirk but regularly play across Scotland and the rest of the UK
