Carrie has been playing the fiddle since Primary School. She was introduced to the crazy world of folk music through the Edinburgh Youth Gaitherin'. She formed Cu Chulaind's Raven Ceilidh Band at the tender age of 15, which became renowned for its unpronounceable name and half-hour-long Strip the Willow sets. At 17 she was offered a place on the Scottish Music course at Glasgow's RSAMD. She has gone on to play in many different ceilidh bands including The Ceilidh Experience, The Sensational Jimmy Shandrix Experience, and the Columcille Ceilidh Band (a band that was set up for musicians with a learning disability), and also earned a place in the Guinness book of Records when she played to an audience of 5000 for the largest Eightsome Reel in the world.
Rob Minns (Guitar) originally trained as a classical pianist, teaching himself guitar in his spare time. He studied Classical Music at Napier University in Edinburgh. He has played for many bands from Rock Bands to Function Bands, and also has his own Weezer Tribute band. He toured with the Big Band Jazz Band, and was recently performing in the Middle East with world-touring band The Boxtones. His vast experience of musical styles means he has much to bring to the Carrie On Dancing ceilidh band.
Robin Hunter (Drums) grew up with Scottish music and started playing ceilidhs at the age of 10 with his mother's band 'The Caiystane Ceilidh Band' and with 'The Southsiders'. At high school he also joined the Edinburgh Academy Pipe Band. Since leaving school, he has studied Classical Piano and Music Technology, and has also become a regular on the T in the Park stages with his bands 'Thee Comrades' and 'V2 Schneider'.
Together, Carrie, Rob and Robin become Carrie On Dancing. They have played all up and down the country from a Humanist wedding in a field under a tree, to Scotland's most desirable castles, stately homes and hotels. They play all sorts of events from weddings and corporate events to children's parties and fund-raisers, and with their fresh new approach to ceilidh music, and Carrie's unique calling style, they are guaranteed to put a smile on your face!
