The band are based in Totnes, South Devon and regularly travel to Bristol and to Cornwall and other parts of the South West
Skedaddle are a fun, upbeat jazz band that are guaranteed to get the dance floor jumping with their high-energy, nostalgic swing sound. Playing songs from the early to mid 1900s, they draw on the rich history of great music by the likes of Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Cab Calloway and Louis Prima, and bring it to life with a fun, engaging show that resonates with all ages.
The rhythm is created by the skilled and experienced musicians on piano, double bass, guitar and drums, while melodies and solos are performed on trumpet, clarinet and fiddle. All this is brought together by the sweet old-time style of the vocalist, who weaves stories and emotions through the timeless lyrics and confident showmanship.
This music is part of British culture, having travelled from New Orleans and New York, through our radios and TV screens, and taking on a fresh sound in the form of Trad Jazz in the UK. Skedaddle delight in bringing this fun, lively sound and the atmosphere it creates to audiences today.
The same material lends itself well to background music for receptions and meals, and creates a great spectacle and sound for any occasion. The band can play as a 7 piece for later sets when you want to fill the dance floor, or as a duo or trio for a more background sound.
The band always dress smart, in full suits and hats, in keeping with the style of dress in the 1930s. This creates a good first impression and a strong visual impact during the performance.
