About this Act
Edinburgh based Bluegrass band The Banjo Lounge 4 are truly something different to wow your crowd. An acoustic mash-up band delivering classics in an original and imaginative packaging they dress in their infamous classic tweed suits with Old School Hip Hop, Funk, Swing, Electronica, Indie, Soundtrack, Dance and Rock all getting the genre-mashing treatment.
Their 4-piece line up of Banjo, Acoustic Guitar, Double Bass, Drums with three-part harmonies is adaptable to different spaces and so can play pretty much anywhere - either acoustically or plugged in though their PA.
The setlist can be tweaked to suit the crowd, more like a live DJ set than a standard wedding band would. With one foot firmly set in playing festivals, private parties, events and clubs, in fact they tend to shy away from the traditional 'wedding band' tag as they create a proper gig experience for their clients to keep the dancefloor moving. They do innovative Funky Bluegrass mash-up versions of songs to suit all audiences, so you can hear classic standards like Louis Prima's 'Just a Gigolo', Johnny Cash's 'Ring of Fire', David Bowie's 'Let's Dance' and Beyonce's 'Crazy in Love', but given the option they like to bring in less standard fare with the likes of Dizzee Rascal/Calvin Harris' 'Dance Wiv Me, Underworld's 'Born Slippy', Rage Against The Machine's 'Killing in the Name', Dr Dre's 'Next Episode', Led Zeppelin's 'Immigrant Song', House of Pain's 'Jump Around' (mixed up with Rappers Delight and Baby Got Back!), Punjabi MC's Knightrider re-mix of Mundian to Bach Ke and Ini Kamoze's 'Hot Steppa' to name but a few.. (phew!).
They have fun with what they do and with over 10 years of packed dancefloors, they know you'll enjoy their spin on things too.
