Based in Edinburgh but play regularly throughout Scotland and across the UK.
Carrie Bulley has been playing the fiddle since Primary School. She was introduced to the crazy world of folk music through the Edinburgh Youth Gaitherin'. She formed Cu Chulaind's Raven Ceilidh Band at the tender age of 15, which became renowned for its unpronounceable name and half-hour-long Strip the Willow sets. At 17 she was offered a place on the Scottish Music course at Glasgow's RSAMD. She has gone on to play in many different ceilidh bands including The Ceilidh Experience, The Sensational Jimmy Shandrix Experience, and the Columcille Ceilidh Band (a band that was set up for musicians with a learning disability), and also earned a place in the Guinness book of Records when she played to an audience of 5000 for the largest Eightsome Reel in the world.
Kath (Keys) has been playing with Carrie since they were 10. She went on to study music at university before training as a music therapist which remains her day job. Her own folk band Corran Raa released their debut album in early 2011, which also conveys her skills as a singer and composer.
Esther (Bodhrán) hails from Berlin and has been playing Irish and Scottish music for over 15 years. She played for Irish set dancing with the band Mind The Dresser and toured through Germany and Austria with the Irish step dance show Celtic Life. Her Edinburgh based band is the Celtic Nyckelharpa Project. By day, Esther is an award winning florist.
Anna (Fiddle), form the Speyside town of Fochabers was taught fiddle by the legendary James Alexander, has traveled all over the world with the ‘Fochabers Fiddlers’, and knows just how to bring that extra drive and harmony to the band. She also plays in the Stu Goodall Band and runs her own function band Edinburgh Sounds.
