Over the last few years the south coast of England is where we have discovered a fair few of our more unusual live wedding bands and this tradition has continued unabated in recent months:

Boondock (below right) are an upbeat and youthful folk band specialising in traditional songs from the all over Europe. Hailing from Brighton they play extensively around the UK to excited audiences and play an eclectic range of traditional instruments including the accordion, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, tin whistle, balalaika and bones. As well as English and Irish tunes Boondock sing a range of old songs in Cornish, Russian, Macedonian and Moravian. In 2012 Boondock played across Europe as part of their summer tour stopping off at France, Belgium, Holland and Germany the tour culminated in a headline slot in the beautiful Polish mountains of Krkonoše.

From the dimly-lit cafes and humid dance halls of Paris in the 1940’s. Fleur de Paris (above) bring to life the romance and drama of Paris in the golden era of Chanson, Jazz and Swing. Featuring beautiful arrangements of classic French singers like Lucienne Delyle, Charles Trenet and Edith Piaf, and with a touch of the Hot Club sound of Django Reinhardt. The 5 piece band, led by charming French songstress Lo will transport you back in time. The accordion, violin, guitar and double bass authentically capture the orchestral magic and smooth cinematic jazz of wartime Paris.

Wight Hot Pipes is a 6-piece Celtic Rock band featuring bagpipes. The band performs an extravaganza of music and kilted costume and produce musical arrangements of outstanding quality with the utmost professionalism. From Amazing Grace dance style to Queen’s We Will Rock You, from Highland Cathedral to the Quo’s Rockin’ all over the World, from Chasing Cars and Clocks and even Dire Straits, you will want to get up and dance… Wight Hot Pipes is an ideal band for indoor or outdoor events whether corporate or private and will provide a unique and unforgettable show that will to bring the house down.

Kalakuta Millionaires is an Afro-Funk-Latino outfit based in Brighton. Fusing tunes from the heart of 70’s Nigeria to the carnivals of Cuba, the back streets of Brazil and beyond – expect blistering brass, stunning harmonies and an explosive rhythm section! The group has already taken the UK festival scene by storm with their dirty mix of Fela Kuti-inspired brass lines, Latin percussion section, afro-psych organ and JB-style funk riffs.
