The Freak Music roster continues to expand at quite some pace as we head in to the (gulp) tail end of 2015 and the UK wedding band section is in particularly rude health. Below is a fairly random pick of top acts from the last few weeks.
Rare Groove (above) are a unique and exciting party band who are guaranteed to make your event stand out from the crowd. Taking their lead from Mark Ronson’s take on songs like ‘Valerie’ and ‘Toxic’, Rare Groove take all of your favourite Pop and Rock hits, from the 60’s to the modern day, and remix them with a twist of Funk and Soul. The result is a fresh and distinctive sound that you won’t hear anywhere else. Rare Groove are highly versatile providing you with a blend of party classics alongside their own innovative remixes. The band’s wide repertoire allows you to handpick your own perfect playlist.
Jo Harrop (right) is a solo jazz singer who has a refined mellow sound evoking the greats such as Anita O’Day & Billie Holliday and has graced many prestigious stages and studios around the UK, she delivers a beautifully warm and swinging sound.
Her repertoire takes in artists from the swing era such as Ella and Frank and she also performs songs for more recent acts such as Sade and Amy Winehouse. She is available to hire as a duo up to a quiet with various musical options.
Megan Morris (below) is a classical trained, highly experienced Harpist with a massive repertoire of classical, pop, Celtic, European and film scores in her arsenal. She can provide background music at wedding ceremonies or at corporate dinners. Most recently she played for the US Ambassador in Cardiff.
She studied with Caryl Thomas at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where she graduated with an honours degree in 2015 and during her time there, she performed in masterclasses with Isabelle Perrin, Alice Giles, Marisa Robles, Chantal Mathieu, Florence Sitruk and Catrin Finch.
Graeme and Richard (below) are a piano & guitar vocal duo who also feature saxophone. This experienced act have a wide ranging repertoire of songs from 50s to present day, pop to jazz and this includes artists such as Ed Sheeran, Billy Joel, Elton John, Take That and many more and they will also happily take requests.
Richard is a trained classical and jazz pianist, organist and vocalist and Graeme is a trained Jazz Saxophonist, guitarist and vocalist and after graduating from the RSAMD, now the RCS both musicians are now music teachers in the secondary school sector. Whilst teaching professionally both performers have continued to play in various bands and solo projects. They can perform more formal music for your ceremony on the piano, guitar or organ and can also provide a wide selection of music for your drinks reception or for during your meal, including popular wedding songs, pop, rock, jazz, swing, songs from the stage & TV and light classical.
