As we fast approach wedding season, typically May to August, here’s a few options if you’re still looking for a live wedding act for hire in Scotland.

The incomparable Chris McClure Section (above) are based in Glasgow, and fronted by Chris McClure (Christian) the five piece band consists of original members with the classic line up of vocals, guitar, bass guitar, keyboard and drums. As hit recording artists, the band released several records on the Polydor label including their hits “The Answer to Everything” and “I’m Just a Country Boy”. They also starred in a number of BBC television and radio productions. Renowned for their tight sound and vocal harmonies, the band specialise in the timeless music of the sixties, their versatile repertoire re-creating the unforgettable hits of that era, including great classic releases from Tamla Motown and Atlantic label artists and more.

Hailing from Orkney, Allan Skea (right) has always been surrounded by music and is a keen fiddle player, guitar player and singer. He always guarantees a great night of tunes to satisfy music lovers of all ages and they cover acts including the Killers, Bob Dylan, U2, Stereophonics and Paolo Nutini. Allan regularly plays at wedding ceremonies and drinks receptions and can provide a few special tunes or create a chilled out atmosphere to relax family, guests and of course the bride and groom. He has played at some stunning venues including the St Magnus Cathedral in Orkney, Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh and Blair Castle.

Bigtime are a 4-10 piece band fronted by Dave Dudgeon, a veteran of many well known function bands. His distinctive vocals have been enjoyed by many wedding parties and functions throughout Scotland. They perform a wide cross section of music from 60’s through to contemporary hits including soul, funk, pop, disco, rock, ballads, country and blues. They specialise in tailoring their set to the clients taste and requirements. They also offer a ceilidh option with the addition of a fiddle or accordion to the line up. All ceilidh dances are called by the band to ensure that every event goes with a swing. A bigger band option can be made available with the addition of female vocals, keyboards and brass, if required. Bigtime also offer an acoustic solo, duo or trio act for smaller, more intimate events.

From garden parties to wedding breakfasts, corporate awards dinners to product launches. Fiona and Will Jazz duo have combined a mixture of all the Jazz standards of the 30/40s with Contempory Pop, Soul & Motown. Fiona (vocals) and Will (piano) have been performing together as a jazz duo for years, building a reputation for high-quality music. They are very aware of the need for a professional attitude and presentation and are very experienced in playing for wedding receptions, corporate functions, private parties and similar events.
