Sister Big Stuff and the Soul Explosions

Since we launched the UK side of the business we’ve seen the English and Welsh side of business catch up with the Scottish wedding bands side of things so much that it’s about a 50/50 split these day. Here’s a few recent recruits:

Sister Big Stuff and the Soul Explosions are a slick party / function band based in Manchester who play corporate events, weddings, functions and live music venues. They work up and down the UK and play the best in soul, motown, funk and disco from the 60s, 70s and 80s. They are available in any number of combinations up to 7 piece, depending on your budget. The 7 piece comes with a 2 piece brass section to give that truly authentic motown sound. Sister Bee has sung soul & motown on the Manchester scene for years and has been described as having a unique and soulful voice. With a background in service management she will ensure you get a first class service from beginning to end.

Tired of reading the same stuff on every bands website? Tired of demos of Mustang Sally, Hi Ho Silver Lining, and Sweet Home Alabama? If you want something different to your average covers band, to really get your function moving, then Black Market can help. From rock classics to Indie chic, they’ve really got it covered. With a combined experience of over 30 years, TOP quality PA kit, full insurance coverage, and outstanding musicianship, Black Market are guaranteed to mix up a storm for your wedding, corporate function, or venue. Whether you want a mix of Queen, Hendrix, INXS and Oasis, or want to get more adverturous with the latest hits from the Foo Fighters, Kings of Leon, Black Keys, Noel Gallaghers High Flying Birds, or Kasabian – they can accomodate you.

Rory Duffy is a London-based saxophonist, pianist and arranger/composer/director with a background in jazz and improvised music. As director of Diáspora, he performs with his jazz quartet and Latin trio, combining his love of jazz and improvised music with Latin, soul and contemporary styles from around the world. Diáspora, his large-scale Latin production, infuses salsa, Latin and Brazilian music with acid, funk and soul influences, combining popular classics with a contemporary twist and new, original material. Rory’s well-established quartet brings together all of these influences with jazz, swing and rat pack, appearing at numerous private/corporate events, weddings and parties throughout the UK. Rory’s Latin trio lineup blends a sweet layering of vocals, saxophone and flute with the warm flavours of the acoustic guitar and the crisp attack of the cajon, playfully fusing Bossa Nova with acoustic Latin, funk, soul and pop, combining arrangements of classic tunes with classy originals in a dynamic, small group setting – perfect for bars, restaurants and parties lending themselves to a festive, bohemian atmosphere.

Russell Joslin (right) plays an intriguing mix of popular covers and original compositions to bring a slightly different slant to the typical sound of the background Classical guitarist. With an ever growing range of well known tunes around the folk, blues and rock ‘n’ roll genres and many moods catered for, from the upbeat and summery to the unhurried and atmospheric, Russell’s music will be ideal for the corporate event, reception or dinner which requires a sound just a little left of centre! Russell will offer a fully portable, quick to assemble and professional performance, he will play music to fit the mood and occasion, from subtle and unobtrusive sounds to upbeat and rhythmic folky jigs. He will improvise where necessary and use an extensive bank of gigging experience to judge what’s needed for your crowd. Russell is available to perform around the UK and abroad.
