The Balkan Bandits
The Balkan Bandits

From the Former Soviet Socialist Republik of South Yorkshire, the Balkan Bandits (singer, right) are a 4-piece cabaret, wailing and oom-pahing orkestra, here to indulge you with marvellous melodies and huge harmonies of Balkan, Klezmer and Show Tunes. Formed in 2007 as the house band to Na Zdrove, Sheffield’s premier “klezmer to Kalingrad” party night, the Balkan Bandits have performed at festivals (including Boom Town, Beat Herder, Eden Festival, Off the Tracks, Gay Pride and Tramlines), weddings, birthdays, cabarets, club nights, fundraisers and much more… Their repertoire includes traditional klezmer tunes, klezmer-fied covers of classic hits (including “I Will Survive” and “Too Good to be True”) and songs of their own making, mainly about cheese and space men.

The Bavarian Strollers are one of the country’s most successful Bavarian bands and have been an established German Um Pah band since 1978. The band uses first class professional musicians and is based on a traditional Bavarian band consisting of 2 clarinets, trumpet, trombone and tuba although the band can also perform with a 4, 6 or 7 piece line up adding accordion and drums. The Bavarian Strollers’ main strength is German Bier Keller or beer cellar nights and they have a vast repertoire of both traditional and popular German music and English sing-along tunes. There are vocals in both English and German and they play in traditional German Lederhosen costume. The band can perform both indoors and outside and can stand, sit or stroll around a venue. They also provide a free German 1 litre stein hire service upon request.

Boondock are a young upbeat folk band specialising in traditional songs from the British Isles and Europe. Hailing from Brighton they play extensively around the UK to excited audiences. They play an eclectic range of traditional instruments including the accordion, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, tin whistle, balalaika and bones. As well as English and Irish tunes Boondock sing a range of old songs in Cornish, Russian, Macedonian and Moravian. In 2012 Boondock played across Europe as part of their summer tour. Going via France, Belgium, Holland and Germany the tour culminated in a headline slot in the beautiful Polish mountains of Krkonoše.
