Manchester in the North West of England is fairly well known as a bit of a musical epicentre of the world, never mind just the UK. Especially in comparatively recent times, think Joy Division, the Fall, the Smiths and so on…. It’s fairly unlikely you’d want these style of bands at your wedding but the live wedding bands in Manchester and surrounding areas is a pretty healthy scene. And not a trench coat in sight.
The Distance (main picture) formed in 2010 and have quickly established themselves as one of the UK’s leading vocal duos. They have performed at functions large and small all over the world and their constant attention to detail has earned them a reputation for excellence and reliability. With a repertoire spanning many genres over many decades, the duo are flexible enough to adapt their performance style to suit the mood. So whether it’s quiet and tasteful background music performed with just a guitar and two vocals, or a full on party complete with backing tracks, stage lighting and PA system. Mat and Sophie share lead vocal duties, each complimenting the other with intricate harmonies and bringing the party to your guests. Our party sets are lively and entertaining, featuring popular classics like Johnny B Goode (Chuck Berry), 9 To 5 (Dolly Parton) and Jailhouse Rock (The Blues Brothers’ version – obviously) as well as modern hits like Sex On Fire (Kings Of Leon), Domino (Jessie J) and Man I Feel Like A Woman (Shania Twain).

Pickup The Pieces was formed by Simon Pickup (geddit?) , who had met a number of talented musicians in the Manchester area, whilst playing at various functions and productions. With a passion for music and entertaining, he set about forming this funky covers band.
