As the home of Freak Music, we know the music scene pretty well here , and as such have amassed a decent roster of homegrown acts for wedding hire in Edinburgh. Here’s a selection of the classical options.
Hoot is Helen MacLeod and Emma Wilkins and are Scotland’s award winning Harp and Flute duo! As recent recipients of both the Enterprise Music Scotland Residency Project and the Tunnell Trust for Young Musicians, Hoot have dazzled audiences with their eclectic mix of music and sparkling personalities. Hoot are much in demand for weddings, corporate and other events and can provide the perfect music for your special occasion. Versatile musicians, individually they have performed with groups ranging from all of Scotland’s professional orchestras to acts such as Belle & Sebastian and Texas. The combination of their dynamic and eclectic repertoire and their passion and flair, guarantee audiences a truly thrilling and inspiring performance.
Alina Bzhezhinska is one of the most exciting harpists based in Scotland. She has had the honour of playing at Scottish and European Parliaments, at the Queen’s 80th-birthday celebrations at Balmoral and at the King of Thailand’s birthday celebrations in Bangkok. Alina’s music is available for religious, civil and humanist ceremonies, wedding breakfasts, dinners and receptions. Her comprehensive catalogue of over 200 pieces includes classical, jazz and world traditional music. She plays “Salisbury” pedal harp and “Aida” clarsach. Both instruments are uniquely fitted with electric pick-ups and can be amplified if required and can also be moved to various locations (indoors or outdoors) during an event if necessary.
Serenity (right) are a classically trained singing duo trained to the highest standards. They specialise in classical and opera repertoire, and their beautiful voices can add magic to any occasion. Their repertoire also covers everything from musical theatre and cabaret to folk song and popular music, sounding enchanting whatever the style. Any type of event can be catered from large weddings and corporate events, to more intimate concerts and parties. Whatever atmosphere is desired, Serenity will work closely with the client, allowing them to tailor their performance to perfectly compliment the event. Charismatic and elegant, Serenity can bring a real spark to your event, enthralling your guests and making it a day to remember.
Ilona Mejia is an experienced and qualified guitarist based in Edinburgh. She performs regularly at corporate functions and weddings throughout Scotland, and is able to provide a unique and relaxed atmosphere for special occasions. Her repertoire is varied, including Spanish, classical, contemporary, and Scottish. This can be tailored to suit the event and she is able to arrange specific pieces given notice, for a special moment. Ilona graduated with honours from Aberdeen University, and has since been awarded a Diploma in Music from the Open University. She has also achieved qualifications at both Diploma and Licentiate levels in Guitar Performance through the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.
