Jazz, Blues and swing acts for hire for weddings in the UK.

Budo Big Band
Budo Big Band

The standard wedding band, if there is such a thing, tends to be a 4 – 6 piece covers act who’ll play anything from the Beatles to Amy Winehouse and everything in between, however we’re noticing more and more clients are opting for  more jazz and swing acts for weddings, and hurrah for that.

The Budo big band (above) are a Swing and Rat Pack act who are one of the most dynamic, big bands in the UK today. At full strength, this 18-piece band play all the hits from Frank Sinatra through to Michael Bublé, with a little Oasis and Tom Jones thrown in for good measure! This group can be made smaller to suit your event but still play all your favourites and mix it up with some swingin’ versions of pop classics. They have an extensive repertoire of songs including Christmas songs and great choices for first dances. The members of The Budo Big Band have worked with Jamiroquai, John Legend, Mark Ronson, Daniel Merriweather, The Temptations, Percy Sledge, Ben E King, Steven Tyler, The Roots, Tony Christie, Martha Reeves, Dennis Rollins and Pee Wee Ellis.

The Counsellors are a seven piece extravaganza of a band. Their sound is classic lounge, with a twist of lemon, and an extra jigger of dry Vermouth. Comprised of vocals, three horns (trombone, trumpet and sax), guitar, bass and drums, The Counsellors swing (and we mean swing) from all over the world, with members from Australia, Canada, Brazil, Ireland and Scotland. Combine all these finger clickin’ ingredients and you have a veritable fondue of grooves, taking musical titbits from Dusty Springfield, Doris Day, Aretha Franklin, Patsy Cline, Sammy Davis Jnr and…The Carpenters. They are headed by the Delicious Miss B (Becc Sanderson), a singer with a smorgasbord of experience. An award winning performer in her native Australia, her recent triumphs include featured vocalist with the RSNO (Royal Scottish National Orchestra) Kings of Swing Big Band for their Proms performances at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh, and the Royal Glasgow Concert Hall, June 2006.

Down for the Count are a sensational 9 piece function band performing a fantastic mix of Swing, Rat Pack, Soul and Motown music to give you a party to remember! A fantastic female vocalist is backed by a youthful and experienced band, providing unforgettable live entertainment at great value. This versatile and talented band will transform the atmosphere of your party: playing sophisticated jazz music during dinner, Swing and Rat Pack classics to get your guests on their feet and Soul and Motown hits guaranteed to fill your dance floor all night long.
