Happy birthday Cee Lo Green.

Cee Lo perhaps enjoying his birthday a little too much.

On this day in 1974 Thomas DeCarlo Callaway, better known as Cee Lo Green was born. The singer’s early days were marred by horrendous tragedy, his father dying when he was two years old and his mother dying after a car accident just as his career was taking off. Not unsurprisingly he has said this has changed his life and concentrated his mind on his career.

His work with Danger Mouse, they became the duo Gnarls Barkley, saw him have a global hit with Crazy but he’s more well known for the similarly massive seller Forget You which he released as a solo artist when taking a break from Gnarls.

His burgeoning TV career has seen him appear as a coach on the American version of the reality music show the Voice and been a guest on perhaps the other end of the spectrum, Saturday Night Live. He has also appeared in a few movies both as an actor and, fittingly as a voice-actor. He was also part of the half-time entertainment of the Super Bowl 2012.

Cee Lo raised a few eyebrows in March this year while performing for a fundraiser for president Obama by performing the song Forget You using the radio unfriendly lyrics (Google it, NSFW but very funny) for the first verse but then reverting to the radio-friendly version. The President’s views on this were sadly not recorded…

Happy birthday Mr G.
