Freak Music’s Lorna Reid and Birdland are nominated for the The Scottish Jazz Awards 2011

The cream of Scotland’s jazz talent are set to compete for the Scottish Jazz Awards 2011 presented by the Scottish Jazz Federation and Jazz International. We’re proud to announce that Lorna Reid, one of Scotland’s most sought after jazz/bluesy vocalists and songwriters, has been nominated in not one, not two, but three categories!

Lorna Reid is nominated alongside Carol Kidd, Stephen Duffy and Louise Mochan for Jazz Singer of the Year 2011. She is also one of four nominees in the Up and Coming Jazz Artist 2011 category, and with her trio Birdland, she is nominated in the Early Jazz – Band of the Year 2011 category. Click here to vote for Lorna and Birdland: Here. Voting closes at midnight on June 7th.

Lorna is touring the UK with a number of shows and line ups working with the finest instrumentalists, to form intimate duos and swinging sextets. She performs a range of classic jazz tunes and increasingly her own material, crossing over styles jazz to country.  She is currently writing a new album and also made her debut as a radio broadcaster presenting a show ‘All That Jazz’ on BBC Radio Scotland.
