The band is based in Bristol and plays across the South & South West
The Bristol based rockabilly / hillbilly band, Swampigs, comes as a four piece as standard and is made up of three experienced men in their 50's and a suave Frenchman in his 30's. They are also occasionally accompanied by friend and female vocalist Gracie on backing vocals. The band also has a roster of fiddle players when available, to really give their music that hillbilly style.
Swampigs play traditional rockabilly and hillbilly tunes, they perform with a double bass and twangy guitar sound, with a vocalist that could be compared to sounding like Johnny Cash.
The band will play any venue, any size stage or non stage, e.g. on the back of articulated trailers, side walks, just about anywhere people are interested in listening to their upbeat style and easy banter with each other and audience engagement. Being all Lancastrians by birth (and the Frenchman by association now), they have an easy going way about them, are likeable, but professional and can play some great tunes, with a few tunes that will come as a surprise, such as Joy Division and New Order numbers that the band have creatively made into a rockabilly beat to, they bring a whole new sound to classic 80's indie tunes, and not forgetting their Guns & Roses cover.
A night with the Swampigs will be fun and a real musical journey from rockin' songs of the 50's, right up to the current day with their own compositions including "Swampig Woman" and "Honeysuckle Rose"
If unpretentious, good listening for the oldy timey cider drinkers looking for a sing along, a good dance, or just to listen to four good men busting a gut to deliver a rockin' good sound for entertainment pleasure, then the Swampigs are your huckleberry
