About
Celtic Soul Orchestra is a big beat band with Celtic influences and Soul undertones.
Formed by professional musician Craig Hunter now based in Edinburgh who runs his own music studio Banana Row and is the founder member of the Celtic band Callanish.
The concept of the Celtic Soul Orchestra came from listening, playing and working with a variety of performers over many years and being influenced by what makes people dance.
His musical background comes from being a DJ, studying Scottish/pipe band music at Stirling University then moving down south to study drums at London's premier drum and percussion school Drumtech.
Finishing his studies he began working as a drummer and drum tech for a variety of performers including James Brown, BB King, Tony Bennett, Groove Armanda, Bhundu Boys, Nancy Sinatra, Status Quo, Kayne West, T Pain, Nas, Nelly, Estelle and many others.
His love of Celtic, Ethnic, Soul, Blues, Jazz and Popular music is the basis of the Celtic Soul Orchestra.
Big Soul Grooves blended with Hammond Organ, Guitar, Brass and Fiddle are the ingredients for the sound finished of with some beautiful vocals.
Where are they based?
Based in Edinburgh but play regularly throughout Scotland and across the UK.
