About
Polish singer Luiza Staniec has been playing the piano, singing and composing for years. Before switching to an electric Wurlitzer, she would usually accompany herself on the piano.
When she graduated at Poznan's Music School Of Singers, Luiza was a frequent performer on the Lublin music scene where she lead the all-female band MATKA (MOTHER) as the main vocalist, composer and pianist.
She also put in a few years as a radio presenter at the Akademickie Radio "Centrum" (Student Radio "Centre") where she had her own show called YOUR DEMO which gave air to aspiring artists.
Soon, she became a “missionary” of sorts traveling around the world with her “musical message”. She has performed at high profile events in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sweden, and many more.
In 2004-2005, she and her fellow musicians from MATKA, collaborated with the world famous pole Michal Wisniewski, on his project RED HEAD.
Nowadays, Luiza is enjoying a considerable amount of success working alongside some of Poland's best known artists as the composer or lyricist. Her credits include one of Ewelina Flinta's best known songs "Zaluje" ("I Regret").
In 2005 Luiza joined with TELEWIZOR, a Polish alternative rock band, to produce the album SOWY I CMY ("Owls and Moths") which enjoyed great reviews across the music industry. The album opened the doors to some well known TV shows, among them one hosted by hugely popular Kuba Wojewodzki. The song PLYNE, GINE ("Swimming, Drowning") was used in the made for TV movie MAGDA M. which had quite a following. Her composition SOWY I CMY ("Owls and Moths") found favor with the producers of another movie called WIEZA ("The Tower").
Just recently, aided by her trio, Luiza released JA TO JA ("I AM ME") a new album with eleven original tracks all authored by her. This very feminine album exudes the warmth of Luiza's voice and the tranquility of her piano. The music on the album represents a unique life journey, with its many wonders and turns. Just like most of Luiza's songs, the material on "JATOJA" is as heartfelt and as personal as an album can get.
Now we're delighted that Luiza is starting her new life in Scotland
Where are they based?
The band are based in Aberdeen but regularly play throughout Scotland and the rest of the UK.
