About
For over 10 years now, Renegade have been working audiences in pubs and clubs across Scotland. With a committed music-lovers mix of classics in an unpretentious acoustic feel, they perform a beautiful array of songs from almost every genre and every era which will have you in tears one moment and dancing on the tables the next.
Taking influence from everybody from The Who to the Stones, from Steve Earle to Bob Dylan and all the way back again, you really never know what is going to be served up next in what is always a rich and varied set list. This is a hard working band - you will be guaranteed at least two hours passion and playing from this all-acoustic outfit. All 3 members are equally equipped and comfortable singing lead or backing vocals. The variety within their voices covers everything from raunchy rock to heart wrenching harmonies that could melt the heart of the coldest of critics.
The three guitar styles are widely different. The finger breaking exertions of Gary White's wide variety of solos and the consistently perfect strumming of Derek Maclauchlan, is augmented to completion by the varied finger picking and lead / rhythm style of Gary Whelan. The effect really is stunning. You think all of this is good enough until all of a sudden Derek MacLaughlin suddenly rips even more life into the sound with the harmonica. Beware of the blues harp solos - the effect is electrifying!
So you take all of this, add a subtle sprinkling of mandolin and Dobro slide from the boys and what you have is possibly the most complete evening of contemporary acoustic entertainment you will ever see.
