About the Band

Debbie Davis has a vast and beautiful voice, awarded ‘Runner Up Best Vocalist of the year’ by The Scottish Jazz Awards 2009 Debbie's repertoire is versatile and impressively extensive in range. Often outperforming originals her excellence is instantly recognisable and has been compared to Barbara Streisand, Eartha Kitt as well as her greatest heroine, Nancy Wilson. With a compelling stage presence, she has the air of someone who is clearly having a ball singing in Portuguese, Italian, French and English. Whether backed by nineteen musicians or only one or whether singing ballads or up-tempo classics, Debbie is an exceptional and talented artist as well as a memorable performer.

Debbie boasts a variety of the best of Scotland’s musicians as her back up band. From award winning Erik Hansen’s orchestra, Martin Kershaw and Konrad Wiszniewski to the magnificent Tom Finlay of Barbara Morrison fame.

Her debut CD ‘This Midnight Voice’ was released independently last summer and has been exceptionally well received in Britain and Europe.

Erik Hansen’s High Life!

Erik Hansen’s High Life! Is one of Scotland’s premier society bands geared to providing music for elegant private parties, weddings, and corporate and other special events. The High Life! with Debbie are currently the Thursday night house band at The Jam House in Edinburgh with a program of “Definitely Dancing” for ballroom and other dancers. The size of the band can be adjusted to suit the needs of the event from full big band, to mini big band (5 horns and 4 rhythm players--the Jam House band), to as small as a quartet. Led by Erik Hansen, an American bassist who relocated to Edinburgh from Los Angeles, the individual members of the band include the finest musicians in Scotland.

Masters and Mistresses

Covering the best of the greats, and keeping it nice and up-tempo! This set includes classics such as Shiny Stockings, Old Black Magic, Anything Goes, Beautiful Friendship and Ain't That a Kick in the Head. Masters and Mistresses has class and sophistication written right through its heart and promises an evening of high quality entertainment.

The Sun Kissed Session

Oozing Latin sensuality and rhythm, the Sun Kissed Session consists of gorgeous tracks such as Sway, Satin Doll, The Girl from Ipanema (in Portuguese) and One note Samba to name a few. This set will have everyone shaking their shoulders and swaying their hips! Passion guaranteed!

You and I

Accompanied by the beautiful sound of Marcus Ford's classic guitar, you and I is the perfect duet for a romantic and playful atmosphere. This set will bring intimacy to large-scale settings and stimulate smaller audiences to warm and enliven. The Folks Who Live on the Hill, Tenderly, Love Won't Let me Wait, Come Rain or Come Shine, Cry me a River are among this stunning set.

The Composers Collection

The Composers Collection pays tribute to Burt Bacharach, Cole Porter and other modern composers, this collection includes; It's Only Just Begun, Alfie, Wives and Lovers, Mack the Knife and other classic titles. The set has a dramatic and timeless feel that would suit a wide variety of settings and backgrounds.

Deep Soul and Hip

Deep, Soul and Hip is a mix of every-ones favourite tunes from Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin through to Lionel Richey and Gladys Knight, this set is modern, classic and exciting! It features fabulous Jazz standards such as Round Midnight and my Funny Valentine to blend this into a smooth and unforgettable set.
