About

Gipsy folk-roots fusion.

Duelling sax & fiddle.

Striking, evocative melodies.

Tantalising grooves.

Infectious energy.

Brighton based 5 piece, The Tatsmiths, are well known on the circuit for their charming, audacious songs and outspoken, often funny lyrics. Fronted by powerful, gritty, soulful vocals, their signature sax and fiddle blend with a fusion of gypsy and reggae vibes ensnares the most resilient of audiences.

Starting 2010 with a fantastic performance at Brighton Pride, and moving on to playing at events such as Glastonbury, Boomtown, Secret Garden and Brunswick festivals, they then finished the year by recording their second EP, The Casablanca Sessions. 2011 saw them gracing stages at events like Strawberry Fair and Boomtown, not to mention finishing the summer by playing at the notorious and awesome Chai Wallah's at Shambala!

The crew kicked off 2012 by recording and releasing their first 5 piece studio album, including favourites such as ‘Resist’ ‘Places Like This’ and the storming ‘French Lesson’, alongside a promotional tour and a bumper summer of gigs and festivals including Bearded Theory, Boomtown, Frome folk festival, Brighton's own Paddle round the pier and many more. The album “Curiosity Shop” has been delighting their loyal fans, inspiring new ones, and the crew have been touring the southwest once again this spring. They are now looking forward to events such as Glastonburys Field of Avalon, Brighton’s Kemp Town Carnival and Alchemy Festival where they will be showcasing even newer material.

Current line-up includes members of festival favourites Los Albertos and Tragic Roundabout on sax and drums. Complementing the original trio to create the Tatsmith’s distinctive, infectious folk-roots groove over which the seamless harmonies dance along with you.

Where are they based?

Based in Brighton, but playing regularly all through Brighton and Hove, Shoreham, Lewes, Frome, Bridport and many other areas across London, much of the South west, Cambridge and Derbyshire.

Regulars at many of the Sussex, south west England and further afield UK based alternative festivals.
