As we stare into the abyss of Christmas and New Year, and Edinburgh’s city centre basically becomes a market (with added journey through Frozen Scotland apparently, right outside Freak Music) we’re seeing a huge upsurge of band registrations. Here’s a totally non-scientific sample of some recent additions to the wedding band category.

The Manytones (main pic) are a Premium Live Band suitable for Weddings, Functions and Corporate Events. The band performs a wide and varied range of Soul & Motown, R&B, Dance & Electronic, Pop, 70s and Funk. Talent is the name of the game on every instrument and the band features a collective of superb musicians and singers who have worked with well known artistes such as; Paul Van Dyk, Nile Rodgers, Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson, Keane, Elton John, Kid Creole, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Cream, Brite Light Brite Light, Nate Watts, Oz Noy, Russell Watson, Boy George, Chris Difford, and many more….. The band aren’t just about turning up and playing music. They want you to be entertained, and they want to make YOU a part of the event.

Sugar Kube (bottom) are a fantastic high energy cover party band. Based in London, the band specialise in flowing set lists, high energy performances by some of London’s most talented, experienced, well-rehearsed and smartly tailored musicians available. Pete Martelle is the band leader, and ensures every performance is tailored to suit the vibe of the evening and the vision of each client. Their repertoire is sizeable too, taking in acts as varied as Pharrell Williams, Clean Bandit, The Supremes and Prince. Sugar Kube have been active since 2009 and have accumulated an impressive client CV in the process including: Macmillan Cancer Support, Mercedes-Benz, Google, M&S, Sony and many more.

His main show can be altered to suit more relaxed, lounge and backing music atmospheres. Anna and Jimmy (left) have years of experience behind them in the entertainment world. They have both been professional singers and performers in bands and duos for many years. Anna & Jimmy came together a year ago to form a new and diverse duo. They perform in many restaurants, bars and private events. This lively duo pride themselves on such a versatile and varied song list as well as being able to learn requests and special songs for gigs and their standard repertoire takes in the likes of Dusty Springfield, Ed Sheeran, The Beatles and T Rex.
