For either background music at the drink reception or even as an alternative to the main act we have loads of live jazz options for weddings in Scotland for hire through Freak Music.

Blu Velvet (above) play and sing classic jazz and modern songs to a high quality. They delve into the great American Songbook and emerge with tasteful modern arrangements; they cherry-pick the best modern songs from the great singers such as Ella, Nina Simone, Dionne Warwick, Natalie Cole, Norah Jones, Amy Winehouse, Eva Cassidy, Caro Emerald, Adele, and Edi Reader. They also perform traditional and contemporary jazz songs, as well as delightful acoustic versions of Burns, Scottish and other genres as requested. The band features Carol Stirrat on vocals – her voice has delighted audiences with her jazzy/bluesy style and interpretations. The musical arrangements behind her come from Sandy Rosie (keyboard / guitar), supported by Scotland’s top-flight experienced musicians (double bass, guitar, sax,and drums as required).

City Duo
City Duo

City Duo (right) is the collaboration of guitarists Tom Ion & Stuart Drever. Both professionally trained musicians they create a fun, energetic and original mix of popular tunes with a unique Jazz, Latin and Blues twist. The music of the early 20s onwards created a very positive and upbeat atmosphere which the duo tries to express through their interpretations of popular music. Think Django Reinhardt meets The Beatles. Whatever your event, City Duo can tailor the Concert Programme to meet your needs. Be it music for a themed party, wedding or background music for corporate events City Duo never fails to deliver with their up-tempo feel good music. Tom is a highly skilled musician constantly striving for more. With a wide array of styles at his fingertips and an impressive repertoire consisting of original compositions.

The highly acclaimed Frazer Mitchell Jazz Trio are available for booking at your wedding, party or corporate event. The band is comprised purely of time served, degree educated musicians. They have a rich and varied repertoire- ranging from early Jazz songs to modern Jazz standards. The “easy listening” tone of the band’s music provides an ideal compliment to any special dinner occasion or wedding reception. The Trio has adopted an eloquent, understated presence to create the ideal ambience for any function. A female vocalist can also be added if one desires. Requests can also be accommodated for with advanced notice.

Radio Pachuco came into being in 2011 as the house band for Saturnalia cabaret, an ill-fated production involving some of Scotland’s great performers. As such they had to provide the background music for burlesque acts, feats of hypnosis and even a fakir hammering a nail into his head. Certainly not a squeamish band… However it was the swing music played by the band that attracted most praise. Seeing this the organisers of the cabaret decided to launch Radio Pachuco as an independent product. Since then the band have become increasingly busy, performing regularly at clubs, bars and functions; including the Newhaven Festival 2012, and providing the music for Vintique, an Edinburgh vintage event and have played for us at a couple of Vintage wedding fairs in Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
