Great start to 2018 on the recruitment front at Freak towers.

Jacobites
Jacobites

Jeez, over half way in to dry January and the new sign ups continue to gather pace. Nearly 50 acts have registered since the 1st January alone, not all live as yet, but we’re getting there. Anyway, here’s a non-scientific sampler of some of the more recent wedding and function acts.

Edinburgh based act The Jacobites (above) are a experienced professional ceilidh band that play weddings, events and festivals across the country and Europe. They are the founders of the Edinburgh Street Ceilidh, in which they’ve taught thousands of people to ceilidh dance from all over the World on the streets of Edinburgh. They bring that same energy and unique style to their ceilidhs, and with a talent at getting complete strangers to dance in front of crowds on the streets, they guarantee they’ll have no problem in getting your guests up to dance! They are a high energy fusion of traditional and contemporary Scottish music.

Crimson Rogue
Crimson Rogue

Crimson Rogue (right) is an acoustic duo formed by singer Lorena Dale, one of London’s most sought after soul and jazz vocalists, and guitarist Filippo Dall’Asta, emerging guitar talent in the UK music scene. They are a highly sought-after act for wedding gigs, corporate and private events. Crimson Rogue will jolt you into a state of pure joy with their tantalising renditions of pop, soul and jazz favourites. This repertoire takes in acts as varied as Al Green, Billie Holiday, Gnarls Barkley and Beyoncé.

The Shakeups (bottom) are a band of good friends who play a great mix of 50s rock ‘n’ roll, 60 should and a smattering of 70s party tunes and are a perfect option for a wedding or corporate event that requires a retro look, feel and sound. They perform with both male and female vocals and take their varied musical cues from the likes of Chuck Berry, Johnny Cash and the Beatles.

Funky Heroes
Funky Heroes

Funky Heroes (left) are a talented, exciting and unique wedding and party band based in Manchester. With in-demand, experienced musicians and a killer set list they are sure to create the atmosphere for your event, be that a romantic first dance, smooth dining music or a full on party. The set encompasses the biggest tunes from the 60’s to the current chart hits, and is constantly refreshed and updated. Sound and lighting is on point, keeping everything sounding and looking as good as possible. Funky Heroes can also scale their line up to include extra vocalists, brass players and a keyboard players, increasing the wow factor for larger events. With a 4 piece band they use backing tracks to keep the sound full and authentic, whilst being practically unnoticeable to audiences, other than it sounding great, obviously.

Kai Henderson and Véronique Piercy are Cascadia, (below right) an elegant vocal and guitar duo specialising in intricate harmonies and soulful covers. With

Kai hails originally from the Highlands of Scotland, while Véronique is from the west coast of Canada. Combined, their musical influences include Joni Mitchell, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Bruce Springsteen, Prince and Ella Fitzgerald. Both professional actors, Véronique and Kai have performed on stages internationally, and have over a decade of experience performing to live audiences. Most recently, Kai toured with the acclaimed show, “Buddy Holly and The Cricketers” to audiences all over the UK and Europe. He is also a member of the Royal Albert Hall’s house band, “Albert’s Band”. Véronique appears regularly in West End showcases as a feature singer, and has performed at venues on both sides of the Atlantic.
