After the success of the Vintage Wedding Show last year in Edinburgh’s Mansfield Traquair, the organisers have decided to launch it in Aberdeen on Sunday 3rd March at the Caledonian Thistle from 11am until 4pm.

The idea came about by organiser Mel Jaron, whose husband is a photographer who has exhibited at countless wedding fairs and she felt there was a need for something a little bit different and lots more stylish! She has run a vintage market called Funk Fair for nine years and so combined the two together, to create a boutique wedding event with hand-picked, vintage-inspired independent exhibitors and lots of live music. There is also a (G&) tea party on the day all combining towards a very relaxed and fun atmosphere.

Freak bands being featured are a 3-piece version of the Brand New Originals who’ll be playing a specifically chosen small set of older stuff and we have a great Aberdeen based classical act, the Rococo Quartet who’ll be performing too. If 50s music is your thing, Petra and the PT Cruisers will be taking us back to that era and the Declaration band will be adding a soul vibe to the event.

Freak Music has an extensive list of Vintage bands on the books from a 1920s/30s style modern covers act like the Riviera to a more specialised act who perform a genuine vintage songbook set from the same era like Ali Affleck and Vieux Carre.

Last year the event was covered in were in The Scotsman, the Evening News, the List, I-on, Rock My Wedding, Love My Dress, Pocketful of Dreams, b.loved, Before the Big Day, Scottish Wedding Directory, Best Scottish Weddings, Edinburgh Brides Wedding Guide, Engaged Wedding Blog, Wedding Sherlock, Informed Edinburgh and Edinburgh Spotlight and the organisers hope to emulate this coverage with the Aberdeen event.
