Zara Phillips entertained by Freak Music.

Freak’s resident DJ and perpetual (K)night owl, one Jez Hill found himself playing by Royal appointment recently. At his regular Thursday night gig at Lulu on Edinburgh‘s historic George Street, heads turned as a familiar looking young blonde and her equally familiar looking man-mountain consort, casually sauntered in with a gang of companions.  Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall were offered VIP service but politely declined.  The group arrived after midnight and left around 2.45am,  happily posing for pictures with other revellers during their stay.

David Johnston, director of Montpeliers (Edinburgh) Ltd, which owns Tigerlily and Lulu said: “They had a fantastic night and were unbelievably grounded.”

A word from our man on the scene Jez: “A girl from Zara’s group came up and asked if I could play Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO for her. If she’s requesting stuff like that, then she’s definitely up on the latest party tunes.” No stranger to a Royal audience, Jez (right) remembers DJ-ing in the nearby Opal Lounge some years ago when Zara’s cousins Wills and Harry showed up. Apparently one of them got himself a wife recently. Small affair presumably, didn’t hear much about it.
