About the Band

'The Funktion Band' is a five-piece ensemble, based in Newcastle upon Tyne, who performs a tasteful yet danceable repertoire of Soul, Funk and Popular from the last 60 years. Using only experienced musicians this fantastic band consists of female and male lead vocalists, Guitar, Keys, Bass and Drums with the option of augmenting the band with saxophone or providing additional live background music ensembles. 'The Funktion Band' specialises in adding that lively atmosphere to any wedding, party or event to get even the most hesitant of guests singing and dancing along.

The band is a culmination of many bands based in the North East of England with each player bringing their own experience and enthusiasm to the ensemble. What’s surprising about this band is that although each member is a versatile musician involved in the local and national professional music scene, each member having years of experience and also a music degree to their name, they are all under the age of 25! Their combined experience as a band makes them very versatile and has led them to play such engagements in the past like weddings, nightclubs, corporate events, birthday parties, university balls, awards ceremonies and more.

The band have a knowledge and repertoire of songs that will create the right mood for your event, whether that's getting people up dancing or creating a background ambience they can do it. That combined with their easy ability to quickly arrange and learn songs to go that extra mile in providing the right music for your special event, produces a sensational, fresh band. You can be rest assured they are the right people for the job!

Sample Set List

This set list represents some of the material they would typically play but changes slightly depending on the gig and band line-up requested. For that party atmosphere and to keep the dance floor full, many of the songs here will appear in the form of a medley or are carefully placed in the set so that they can link almost straight in and out with out a gap. Songs are often slightly re-arranged depending on the line up they have with them but are still respectful to the originals, occasionally songs are totally rearranged to allow them to create the right mood.
