The band are based in leeds and frequently play in Yorkshire but also play in London and other parts of the country.
Kibitz are a 7 piece band based in Leeds playing a mixture of Jewish Klezmer and eastern European folk music. The band is made up of members of a variety of musical backgrounds each with their own input. Some bring jazz elements and others more folk and classical giving a unique take on this genre. Kibitz' sound covers a wide range of emotions and the music can go from pure joy to deep sadness often within the same tune.
Klezmer is very much a danceable genre and Kibitz will always get people moving. The band are able to tailor their repertoire in order to meet the specific needs of each event.
The lineup of the band is partly traditional with the violin, accordion and clarinet being standard klezmer instrumentation. Kibitz have built upon this traditional core and extended to include guitar, darbuka and electric bass giving them a unique and interesting sound.
