About the Band

Jafala is a six piece vocal, trumpet, sax lead band that plays jazz, funk and Latin based music. Whether in a concert setting, for dancing, or for background atmosphere they are adept at playing in exactly the right style and volume for the event.

The Band formed some 10 years ago from a group of students at a summer jazz school in Edinburgh. They are older now but have kept the same spirit and you can see they just love playing and its infectious.

Since the early days there have been a number of additions and changes to the line up. The repertoire has widened considerably beyond Jazz as Latin sounds have influenced the group and the repertoire.

Jafala also offers a total package on salsa with a dance team that teaches the audience all the basic steps.

The rhythm section has been playing together for even longer both in this band and in other formats. They know each other almost instinctively now and make it really swing- whether it is jazz, Latin or funk.

They will want to spend time upfront talking to you to understand just what it is you want, and they will design a set list and arrangements to match it.
